For Young People

Ready to begin your adventure? There are five sections you can join, depending on your age. The activities and opportunities vary but what is the same is that each will empower you to make friends, learn skills and try new things.

Beaver Scouts are usually 6 to 8 years old.

Cub Scouts are usually 8 to 10 and a half years old.

Scouts are usually 10 and a half to 14 years old.

Explorer Scouts are usually 14 to 18 years old.

Scout Network Members are usually 18 to 25 years old.

Why not help out in your child’s section? If its only a couple of hours a term to becoming a regular helper! Perhaps you can help with transport or even help with the accounts! The opportunities are endless, and some companies even give you time off to help organisations like us!

As well as the chance to take part in a range of exciting activities, scouts learn other skills as well. A recent study showed that 87% of young people said that Scouting helped them to contribute to their communities as active citizens.

For Adults

Our volunteers get involved on their terms and not all roles involve working with young people. If you can give a little time (or a lot) to help improve young lives in your community, we’d love to hear from you.. ‘Scouting is a character factory.’ Not our words, but those of our lead volunteer, chief scout Bear Grylls. Are you ready to inspire a generation of young people to experience fun, friendship and real adventure? The opportunities to volunteer with us are flexible. Think of something you’d like to do and chances are it’s just what we require.

Essentially Active Support is a group of adults who wish in some way to provide ‘active support’ to local Scouting. Active Support can be made up of men and women of all ages, interests and backgrounds, whether or not they have been involved with Scouting or Guiding before.

To join any of these sections or to just ask a question just send us an email!
