12th Dorking (Newdigate)

The 12th Dorking (Newdigate) Scout Group incorporates Beavers, Cubs & Scouts. We are a small but thriving Group and are always looking for new recruits in all sections. All three sections are enthusiastically run by a team who enjoy putting something back in to the community by providing a fun environment for village children to do something challenging, exciting and learn new skills.

Over the coming months our older section are taking part in various activities (some wet and some dry), including first aid, pitching a bivvy, cooking outside on burners and knife safety

At the moment we have a undertaken huge project with our local cricket club, to build a brand new pavilion! Our Scout Hut started life as a London pre-fab which was originally constructed to provide temporary housing for people who had lost their homes as a result of bombing during the Second World War. About fifty years ago two redundant pre-fabs were brought to Newdigate,  one to provide a cricket pavilion and one for the Scouts…. and we are still using them!

Both buildings are on their last legs and need replacing. Together with the Cricket Club we are raising funds in 2013 to put in place a brand new building that will meet the needs of both the Scouts and the Cricket Club together.

For more information about our pavilion fund and how we are building a scout hut out of curry please check out the fund’s website.
